Treetop Retreat

Treetop Retreat - Contemporary "Guest House" for the architect / owner's main house is well separated offering total privacy on the 13 acre secluded retreat.
Surrounded by pinions and cactus at an altitude of 8000 ft. on a 13 acre property which abuts the Kit Carson National Forest offers thousands of acres of hiking and exploring.
The only other home on this secluded property is occupied by the owners (well separated from Tree Top Retreat) who are available to provide sightseeing tips and information on local activities.
The floor to ceiling windows in the living room/kitchen of this inviting guesthouse, provide a spectacular view over a sea of trees of the town of Taos, the mesa and the mountains beyond.
The view includes mountains over 85 miles away. From the bedroom and the balcony, which is accessed by two sliding glass doors, guests have a different breathtaking mountain view. Sunsets and sunrises are glorious.
Treetop Retreat, home to the owner / architect / builder and family while the main house was being built, consists of two stories with the first floor containing a bedroom, full bathroom, foyer and laundry room. The second floor consists of a living room, fully-equipped kitchen , master bedroom and bathroom.
The open living room has a large stone wood burning fireplace. Each bedroom has one queen size bed. The first floor bedroom and the living room each also have a couch which folds out into a double bed.
As with the house itself, the furniture has been designed and custom built by the owner. All of the floors are Saltillo tile , and when required provide radiant heat. Passive solar provides most of the heat in the winter and window overhangs protect the house from excessive heat in the summer. Water is solar heated on the roof. This is an eco friendly home.
You will find this home to be a welcoming, relaxing and comfortable retreat after a day of skiing, boarding, hiking, shopping, gallery hopping, sight seeing, or enjoying any other activity that this remarkable area has to offer.
We invite you to come and enjoy the New Mexico sun in our mountain retreat.
As this home is on a 3 mile well maintained gravel road and we are subject to a variety of weather conditions, we recommend that you have a four-wheel drive vehicle during winter months.
